As individuals and as an organization, it is our intention and routine practice to encourage and model these core values and principles:
Person-Centered Education & Individualized Care
The transition to parenthood can be an exciting time, but also a time with serious challenges. We take a compassionate, Person-Centered approach to all of our services that is respectful and responsive to individual clients preferences, needs, and values. This is reflected in our education, support groups, and individualized perinatal services.
Protecting Access to Care
We work strategically to maintain a sound and diverse financial base in order to serve not only families who can afford the cost of service, but those who have less discretionary income, within our capacity. This includes thoughtful, considered referrals to community partners.
Equity, Inclusion, and Cultural Humility
We commit to creating an organizational culture — professionally and personally — that is based in the tenets of cultural humility. In our programs and our organizational practices, we regularly examine our roles in perpetuating inequitable systems and work to change structures that contribute to systemic inequalities. Similarly, we intentionally and mindfully work to maintain an environment where everyone is welcomed, respected, supported and valued.
Continued Curiosity While Pursuing Innovation
While we have much to offer, we don’t have all the answers — but we sure enjoy looking for them.
Our organization embraces lifelong learning and keeping up-to-date, with a multidisciplinary, evidence-based or evidence-informed approach.
We value both creative and critical thinking, maintaining focus, and curiosity for best practices and remain open to new approaches, new evidence, and equally importantly, a commitment to listen more than they speak.
Demonstrate Impact and Collaborate for Collective Impact
We conduct research to be sure that we are ‘moving the needle’ on our organization’s goals.
Meanwhile, we work side-by-side with multidisciplinary colleagues and organizations to build and sustain partnerships that serve and further our shared initiatives and goals.
Positive work environment
We are optimistic, engaged, and overall pretty jazzed about our work and purpose. We rise to challenges with tenacity, grit, creativity, and compassion. We seek diversity of lived experiences in our team and recognize that diverse representation in our professional workforce is an important component of supporting our community on parents, babies, and families.
We create support systems for our staff and community of professionals to reflect, process, and learn.
We’re Serious, But Won’t Take Ourselves Too Seriously
Lets face it, babies and children can be delightful. And, so are the other people we serve. While we are professionals, we don’t shy away from those moments of connection, joy, and celebration with our colleagues and community alike.
