You have your new baby snuggled in at home, but breastfeeding/ first feedings are feeling hard. Maybe you’re not feeling as confident about feeding as you would like, or perhaps it’s been challenging learning how to care for your baby when they seem to be having a hard time. It’s normal to have additional questions or to need reassurance during the early weeks after your newest little on joins the family. We’re here to help.
Call the Lactation & Fussy Baby Warm Line at 805-834-2229 — or feel free to text us and we can find a time to talk. We are happy to help for free for about 15 minutes or so (though we always are happy to have a latte’s worth donated to our Access & Equity Fund for local families). Often it just takes a compassionate and skilled person to help answer questions, get clarity, and soothe those worries with your understandable new parent questions. If it seems like you need further support — be it a support group or 1:1 lactation care or baby support — we will be sure to guide you in the right direction based on your needs.
Our professional and experienced lactation support staff (IBCLCs) or early postpartum educators will return calls Monday to Friday, 10 am – 4 pm, aiming to get back to you in less than 24-hours after you reach out (typically sooner). We will be monitoring the phone on the weekends for emergent issues and will return urgent calls on the weekend (including for pump and baby scale rental requests).
