Donate Your Gently Loved Baby Clothes, Toys, and Other Key Baby Items
Our Bi-Monthly Baby Bazaar and online store (coming soon!) help keep textiles and other materials out of the landfills, while offering high-quality, gently used baby goods at a fraction of the cost — and without the shipping fees or carbon footprint — of buying it online.
Sounds good as is, but get this: Proceeds are used exclusively to fund the Then Comes Baby Access & Equity Fund and its associated administrative costs (which we only invest in if it means greater access to care for community members).
When you donate to this program, you are 1) making an eco-concious choice while 2) helping other local families access the breastfeeding care, “hospital grade” breast pumps/ pump kits, parenting education, and support groups that most new parents need to navigate through pregnancy and early parenthood.
Items should be in-season, gently used, and stain and odor free. We accept sizes newborn through 2T. Items that cannot be used are donated to our community partner Mothers Helpers.
For your less-than-gently used items, please consider using the Marborg + County of Santa Barbara Textile Recycling Program, rather than letting the clothes contribute to the landfill crisis.
Donate Your Breastpump or Unused Nursing Supplies
Pumps ‘n Parts
Then Comes Baby accepts donations of closed-system breastpumps, such as an Ameda Purely Yours or a Spectra S1 or S2. Any donated breastpump must be clean and in a distinct box that can be used for storage until a recipient can pick it up. It’s ideal if you have a new, factory-sealed set of tubing and parts for the recipient. However, please be sure not to include any used pump kit parts, as we can not offer those to anybody. While we may occasionally include unused pumps in the Baby Bazaar or Online Store, most of these pumps will be offered exclusively to lactating folks who don’t have access to a pump that meets their needs. Pumps are offered to families demonstrating need at low or no cost (reduced fees cover costs associated with running the donation program).
Of note: Open system pumps — this includes ALL Medela pumps other than a Symphony or the older Lactina — cannot be accepted for donation. Keeping old pumps out of the landfill is important: please consider sending it back to the manufacturer to be recycled. (Medela Recycles info is here).
Nursing & Feeding Supplies
New and unused nursing supplies, like pads, nipple shields, and milk storage bags can be donated, and so can unused or lightly used + sanitized baby bottles and other supplies. If we cannot offer them to the families we serve, we reroute them to one of our community partners, Mothers Helpers.
